Why Revive
Dry Needling Done the Right Way
Dry needling is a precise clinical technique, not a standalone quick fix. Here is how we make sure it actually moves your recovery forward.
Certified Practitioners
Multiple therapists on our team hold active dry needling certification through Kinetacore’s evidence-based training program, one of the recognized standards for this technique.
Part of a Complete Plan
We use dry needling as one tool within an integrated treatment plan alongside manual therapy and targeted exercise, so the relief you feel translates into lasting change.
Assessment First
Every plan starts with a thorough clinical evaluation. We identify the trigger points and movement dysfunction driving your pain before any needle is placed.
One-on-One, Every Visit
Your licensed therapist is with you for the full duration of every session. Dry needling requires focused clinical attention, and that is our baseline standard for every patient.
Who It Helps
Conditions We Treat With Dry Needling
Dry needling is used across many of the conditions we already specialize in, whenever tight, overactive muscle tissue is part of the problem.
Neck & Back Pain
Trigger points in the neck, shoulders, and spine often drive chronic tension and referred pain. Dry needling complements our hands-on neck and back pain treatment.
Headaches & Jaw Tension
Muscular trigger points in the neck and jaw can contribute to tension headaches and TMJ symptoms. Often paired with our specialized TMJ and jaw pain care.
Shoulder & Rotator Cuff
Overactive muscle tissue around the shoulder can limit motion and slow recovery. We integrate dry needling into rotator cuff and shoulder pain rehab.
Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
Forearm trigger points frequently drive elbow overuse pain. Dry needling supports our tennis and golfer’s elbow treatment for lifters, players, and desk workers alike.
Sciatica & Hip Pain
Tight gluteal and hip musculature can compress and irritate surrounding structures. Used within our sciatica and hip pain programs.
Plantar Fasciitis & Foot Pain
Calf and foot trigger points often contribute to heel and arch pain. Dry needling can be part of our plantar fasciitis treatment approach.
Sports & Overuse Injuries
From runners to weekend warriors, muscular tension and overuse patterns respond well to needling combined with our sports and orthopedic rehab.
Chronic Muscle Pain
Long-standing myofascial pain that has resisted other approaches may benefit from trigger point release as part of our chronic pain program.
The Technique
What Is
Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a skilled technique in which a thin filiform needle is inserted into a myofascial trigger point, a tight, irritable band of muscle tissue that can cause local and referred pain. Releasing these trigger points helps reduce muscular tension, decrease pain, and restore normal neuromuscular function so the muscle can move and load the way it should.
The needle is “dry” because nothing is injected. The therapeutic effect comes from the precise placement of the needle itself, which is why advanced training and certification matter so much with this technique.
- Targets specific trigger points identified during your clinical evaluation
- Releases tight, overactive muscle tissue that restricts movement
- Helps reduce local and referred muscular pain
- Opens a window for retraining the muscle with corrective exercise
Your Session
What to Expect, and How It Differs
From Acupuncture
Although both use thin needles, dry needling and acupuncture are different practices. Acupuncture is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. Dry needling is a Western, anatomy-based technique: your therapist selects needle sites based on your clinical evaluation, targeting the specific muscles and trigger points contributing to your pain.
During treatment, you may feel a brief muscle twitch or a deep ache at the needle site. Many patients describe it as strange rather than painful. Mild soreness for a day or two afterward is common and typically fades on its own. Your therapist walks you through everything before, during, and after, and treatment only proceeds with your comfort and consent.
- Needle sites chosen from your evaluation, not a fixed template
- Brief sessions integrated into your regular PT visit
- Clear communication at every step, and you can pause at any time
- Mild post-treatment soreness is normal and short-lived
The Bigger Picture
One Tool in a
Complete Recovery Plan
Dry needling on its own can relieve tension, but relief that lasts requires more. That is why we never use dry needling as an isolated intervention. When a trigger point releases and pain decreases, your therapist uses that window to restore range of motion, rebuild strength, and correct the movement patterns that created the problem in the first place.
Depending on your evaluation, your plan may combine dry needling with hands-on manual therapy and joint mobilization, targeted corrective exercise, and other advanced techniques our therapists are certified in. The goal is always the same: fix what is causing the pain, not just quiet the symptom.
- Combined with manual therapy and joint mobilization
- Followed by corrective exercise to lock in the gains
- Progress tracked with measurable benchmarks at every visit
- Delivered one-on-one by your licensed therapist, every session
